The Mission
The curriculum for the Early Education Children's Room reflects the belief that children learn through their play.  The classrooms are defined by areas which allow children to explore their interests and develop social, cognitive, emotional, and physical skills at their own pace.

The King Street Preschool Program is a strong example of the positive effect of prevention programs.  We understand that healthy intervention in a young child's life will have tremendous rewards in later years.  A child who is academically and socially ready for kindergarten will experience the first of many levels of success.  This foundation of success is what develops strong and positive self-esteem in children.  Simply stated, the definition of self-esteem is, "I am lovable. I am capable."  Our early education programs launch children who feel that they are lovable and capable.

Head Start
Ten of the fifteen families enrolled in the King Street Preschool participate in the Head Start program. King Street Preschool staff and the Head Start Early Care Advocate work together in supporting families with their child's education, establishing family goals, and in utilizing community resources.

Hours and Tuition
The Preschool Program offers part and full day spaces for fifteen children.  Hours of care are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.  There is a weekly tuition fee for full-day preschool care.  King Street continues to offer scholarships for part-day preschool enrichment.
