THE MISSION The curriculum for the Early Education Children's Room reflects the belief that children learn through their play. The classrooms are defined by areas which allow children to explore their interests and develop social, cognitive, emotional, and physical skills at their own pace. The King Street Preschool Programs are a strong example of prevention programs. We understand that healthy intervention in a young child's life will have tremendous rewards in later years. A child who is academically and socially ready for kindergarten will experience the first of many levels of success. This foundation of success is what develops strong and positive self-esteem in children. Simply stated, the definition of self-esteem is "I am lovable. I am capable." Our early education programs launch children who feel that they are lovable and capable. NAEYC ACCREDITATION The King Street Youth Center Preschool Program is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children - the nation's leading organization of early childhood professionals. Since creating its accreditation review program in
1985, NAEYC has awarded its seal of approval to 8,000 early childhood programs
across the country. By earning
accreditation, King
Street has become a leader in a
national effort to raise the quality of early childhood education and to help
give all children a better start.
